The Lanark County Council has confirmed its support of Carebridge Community Support’s latest affordable housing project – and we are very grateful.
Carebridge is part of the Lanark Community Alliance (LCA) which represents a coming together of independent, non-profit community agencies united in their mission to improve the lives of those they serve in Lanark County. Robert Eves, LCA’s CEO, explains the impact of this new funding: “The new housing project at 63 Halton Street in Perth will be home to 15 individuals and families and we want to thank Lanark County for partnering with us. The demand for affordable housing outpaces the supply in our region and this new project will make a difference for those living in Perth.”
“Lanark County is pleased to partner with Carebridge to support the construction of their 15-unit affordable housing building in Perth with a $2.5 million dollar capital investment; funding to ensure seven of the units are rent-geared-to-income (RGI) for 40 years; and an annual operating grant for Carebridge that is equivalent to the county portion of property taxes,” notes Steve Fournier, Warden, Lanark County. “Lanark County Council is committed to improving the lives of its residents through its investments in affordable housing, and I look forward to seeing the difference that this commitment will make in our community for years to come.”
“We are excited to continue our work with the members of the Community Housing Initiative Perth (CHIP) and to once again be working with Saumure Group on the construction of the new building,” sums up Robert Eves. “It is another concrete example of our commitment to making Lanark County a wonderful place to live and grow.”
